Also, from 6AM-12PM EST, we'll be mannig the IWC Portuguese Automatic IWPA10 watches Twitter page too, so check us out there as well.If you have any questions about what we're seeing in Geneva, be sure to Tweet at us!Even though we don't talk about Fortis much, they have a pretty solid history behind them. Fortis has been watches designed to be worn while doing things that well...most people just don't do. We are talking climbing, flying, diving, and of course free-falling over the South Pole at 250 km/h (true story, look it up).The watch we've found today was not chosen because it was worn while flying 90,000 feet in the air (another true Fortis accomplishment), but rather because of what it does for us visually. Look at this thing. This vintage Fortis MarineMaster IWC Portuguese Automatic IWPA10 watches features an inner rotating bezel and multi-colored decompression gauge right on the dial that is just gorgeous. On top of that, look at that oversized hour minute hand! This is a watch we've seen in person a few times, and each time we see it we like it more. It's a classic vintage diver, that gives you everything you want, including a solid Swiss made automatic movement, for $1,550.Click here for the details of this fantastic looking vintage Fortis Marine Master, not the watch that did anything silly, but just a damn good looking one.
This watch is something special. Sell the car special, second-mortgage special, let the kids fend for themselves special. It is a very early Rolex Submariner. How early? Well according to Antiquorum, it is circa 1953, the very first year the IWC Portuguese Automatic IWPA10 watches Submariner was made. It is reference 6200, the second reference of Submariner ever, so this would make sense. On top of being a YEAR ONE Rolex Submariner, it has a face that more than just a mother could love. It features a rare Explorer face. An Explorer face features numerals only at 3,6, and 9 just like the Rolex Explorer. It is a trait, but one that we wish more watch companies would use and is part of the reason why we love the Omega Ranchero so much. This very early Rolex is being sold in next week's Antiquorum Auction and pre-sale estimates are $25,000-$35,000, which is a lot for a Submariner, but not for this Submariner.
